What materials do magnets attract?

The National Science Education Standards for K-4 state that students should understand that “Magnets attract and repel each other and certain kinds of other materials.”

It has been my experience that most keys are NOT magnetic so do be careful that students realize that just because an object is metal, it’s not magnetic. It’s been my experience, except for plastic paper clips, all others are magnetic which might make a better choice than a key.
