THE SECRET to getting kids wildly enthusiastic about vegetables: invite them to rap about veggies! While these Bridge Point grade school rap stars were filmed they were asked about their veggie-eating habits, and–WITHOUT EXCEPTION–each rapper explained what he/she now does to eat more vegetables. Nutrition is essential to health. The K-4 National Science Education Standards from the National Research Council state that “Students should understand how the body uses food and how various foods contribute to health. Recommendations for good nutrition include eating a variety of foods, eating less sugar, and eating less fat.”
